Are you spending more time laying down on the snow as you watch skiers and snowboarders fly right by you?
New Class Begins Nov 23rd!
The importance of
physical conditioning for snow-riding
Skiing and Snowboarding is a sport that requires stamina and endurance. For the beginner, snow-riding for the first time is ultimately challenging. The human body is required to balance, shift and perform in such ways that it has never done before. Coordination plays an important role as well. For first-timers on the slopes, response time is slow, thus you body may respond improperly which may lead to a fall. All these factors contribute to early fatigue.
There are two additional factors that may cause unexpected fatigue, falling on hard terrain and high altitude. Falling on hard terrain or ice creates tremendous impact on your joints as well as the entire body. Bad falls could lead to serious injuries such as concussions and fractured wrists. Just the impact alone onto hard terrain may create your body to go into mild shock, and the result is tiredness, dizziness and headaches. If you're not properly conditioned, the high altitude will slow you down. The lack of oxygen limits blood to your heart and lungs. Poor conditioning means you'll be out of breath before you get the chance to enjoy yourself.
Benefits
of Snow Fit

These workshops will show you how to train the proper muscles that are required for both snowboarding and skiing. You'll learn how to increase your VO2 (volume of oxygen) so you'll have the energy to ride the snow longer with less fatigue. You'll be learning the different types of gear that will improve your performance and abilities. You’ll be more knowlegeable of the different types of snow terrain (packed, packed powder, groomed & fresh powder). These workshops also offers various simulation techniques to improve your turning abilities.
